Like, why? Cause you have nothing to lose? Great, so let’s support the cause that got your wife killed and ruined your life in the first place。 I think that Schwab put a lot of effort in providing a story and personality to the characters that ultimately did not matter instead of focusing on the ones that do。 You will have wasted chapter upon chapter learning the history and journey of this character, excited to see their introductions and interactions with the OGs, only to suddenly realize it amounted to nothing。 Really, only 20-30% of the book is dedicated to the main, original characters。 More specifically, Victor, Syd & Mitch。 We just get snippets of them。 It felt completely reversed。I was also really creeped out by June’s obsession with Sydney。 I feel like there wasn’t an opportunity to warm up to June enough to feel comfortable with her weird claim on her。 It felt like when you’re at a family get-together and that random old family-friend you’ve never met or interacted with starts hugging, cooing, and raving about how when they last saw you, you were but a baby in their arms。 Uncomfortable, and although you can understand it on a surface level, you’re not nearly familiar enough with them to welcome it。 Not to mention, the warm-up never really comes。 It is established that June is infatuated with creating a familial relationship with Sydney but with no explanation on why。 You never actually get to learn much about June apart from vague hints of a traumatic past and constant mentions about her sing-songy, lilty accent。 I couldn’t help but feel like Schwab simply really liked June and was just trying to somehow integrate her into the OG character group through Sydney。Anyway, pacing was good, per usual。 Again, first 70% had me in its grip。 Really had to push through in the last 30%。 It became a crushing disappointment。2。75 stars。 。。。more

I'm not sure about the intentions and the direction of Vengeful。 What was the point this book was trying to make? Where is the main theme of the spectrum of morality between good and evil, right and wrong? This book felt a bit too black and white at times and some of the characters felt a bit too much like caricatures。 Also, were we supposed to continue with the story of Eli and Victor? Where is the main theme of the spectrum of morality between good and evil, right and wrong? This book felt a bit too black and white at times and some of the characters felt a bit too much like caricatures。 Also, were we supposed to continue with the story of Eli and Victor? Or was it supposed to be centred around the new characters? Instead of committing to either one, it tried to do a bit of both and fell short。 The beginning felt promising, but as I kept on reading, it did not deliver。 Obviously, I wanted to know more about the characters we met on Vicious。 I wanted to know more about Eli, which was not explored as much in the first book (and we sort of got it here)。 I definitely wanted more of Victor (not like this though, he did not feel like himself in this book and did things that did not seem consistent with his character)。 And, well, you will not hear me complain about getting more of the little moments that this found family of weirdos and their half-dead dog share。 However, I was also looking forward to meeting the new characters and unfortunately, I was left a bit disappointed。 They did not feel fully fledged。 Which is a pity, as June and Marcella had the potential to be such great characters。 Even Jonathan, who started as a potential character, a person, ended up as an empty shell, a tool。 Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the book, at least some parts of it: I liked going back to the Villains universe and spending time with the characters I loved in the previous book。 It was interesting getting to know more about Eli's backstory。 I did enjoy being introduced to new powers and I also appreciated seeing how the power of each EO shaped their lives, motivations, perspectives and morality, as we saw in Vicious。 I feel like V。 E。 Schwab skillfully illustrates what it would feel like to have those abilities through how the characters present themselves。 In the end, I expected much more from Vengeful and I was underwhelmed。 。。。more

3。5Debo decir que me pseudo sorprendió el final, puesto que, cómo iba, pensé que terminaba de una forma más。。。 fatalista? This book was SO GOOD! It really kept you on your toes even if all of the flashbacks were dizzying but I loved getting to meet a whole new set of characters with morals just as bad as the first groups :)

damn, ok, this was a highly addictive read。 i absolutely adore the way v。e。 schwab writes, it's gritty and atmospheric, and makes it hard to put down。 i loved, that there were more flashbacks into eli's past, so one has the ability to better get into that complicated mind of his。 more than that, i love the dynamic between eli and victor, which is less of a focus in this book, but still influences a great part of it。 the feelings of having once known someone so well, that now has turned into your damn, ok, this was a highly addictive read。 i absolutely adore the way v。e。 schwab writes, it's gritty and atmospheric, and makes it hard to put down。 i loved, that there were more flashbacks into eli's past, so one has the ability to better get into that complicated mind of his。 more than that, i love the dynamic between eli and victor, which is less of a focus in this book, but still influences a great part of it。 the feelings of having once known someone so well, that now has turned into your worst enemy? the feelings, man。 eli seeing victor's ghost for all the years he's locked up? that's my shit。。'Run。' 'Chase me。'ugh, i love them。 there are several points in this book that bothered me still。 first of all, too many povs of too many unimportant people。 like just focusing on a few central characters would have been so much better。 i honestly don't care about the perspective of a person that appears once。。and marcella。。 omg。 like i'm all for the 'hell hath no fury', but she really got on my nerves over the time。 probably was the point of it, but spending such a big part of the book reading about a character that is beyond infuriating, eh。 (also, how many times do i have to read about her 'red lips, black hair'? like i get she wears lipstick and heels like blades, but the descriptions become soo repetitive over time。)still 3,5-4/5 stars because i mostly couldn't put it down and when i did, i just wanted to pick it up again, and in the end, that is what reading is all about。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Mostly concernig on Victor’s sickness, altough other characters find their place in the plot too。 Ending was… well, surprising, to say at least。 If you had read the previous book and it kept you entertained, you should give it a try。

I enjoyed this book because I could never truly decide who I was rooting for。 It kept it exciting, but the ending fell flat for me。 I feel that there were so many questions left unanswered and that there should/could be another book。 I know that there has been a lot of debate about whether the third book is happening or if this remains a duology so I am left feeling a bit underwhelmed at the end。

I love this series and I truly don't have too many complaints。 It's dark and twisted and there's a lot of death。 The storyline is unique and I cannot get over the characters。 I loved Marcella's storyline and somehow V。E。 Schwab still manages to create plot twists that blow your mind。I wish Eli and Victor played a bigger role in this one though, but I don't mind that they kind of stepped aside to let the women in the story take on bigger plots。 I really enjoyed the themes of power and refusing to I love this series and I truly don't have too many complaints。 It's dark and twisted and there's a lot of death。 The storyline is unique and I cannot get over the characters。 I loved Marcella's storyline and somehow V。E。 Schwab still manages to create plot twists that blow your mind。I wish Eli and Victor played a bigger role in this one though, but I don't mind that they kind of stepped aside to let the women in the story take on bigger plots。 I really enjoyed the themes of power and refusing to step aside for the men in your life。 I think that's a strong message that we need to be reminded of sometimes。While I liked the time jumps in the first book, I felt a little confused by them in this book。 I can kind of see why Schwab uses this tool but while it felt fresh and unique in the first, it felt more like a way to drag this second book out。 I felt like this novel maybe could have been shorter。。。then again I did devour Vengeful in a couple days so who am I to be picky? I cannot wait for the third book in this trilogy to come out (I thought it was already out and I was really confused why none of my libraries had it)。 I am now a V。E。 Schwab fan and I will be picking up the Darker Shades of Magic trilogy soon, don't you worry。 。。。more

Like 2。5⭐️I feel like this book was very unnecessary and it added just about nothing to the story of the first book。 I feel like vicious should’ve been a stand alone and then there could be other books in the same universe vibe but leave the og characters alone😩 There were so many POVs and timelines on top of new characters I was very overwhelmed trying to keep everything sorted in my head。 I really liked the character of Marcella and I feel like she would’ve had an interesting story without it Like 2。5⭐️I feel like this book was very unnecessary and it added just about nothing to the story of the first book。 I feel like vicious should’ve been a stand alone and then there could be other books in the same universe vibe but leave the og characters alone😩 There were so many POVs and timelines on top of new characters I was very overwhelmed trying to keep everything sorted in my head。 I really liked the character of Marcella and I feel like she would’ve had an interesting story without it being intertwined into the Eli/Victor plot。 I also liked June as her power was very interesting but as a character she didn’t feel fully formed! I just have so many questions about her motives。 There were many parts where I’d be drawn in, like can’t put down, then the focus would shift and I wouldn’t want to pick it up。 Overall I feel like this one was a miss for me:P 。。。more

v e schwab is, as usual, a genius。 just like its predecessor, this book was remarkably well-paced given the non-chronological style; it can maintain solid flow throughout without leaving the reader wondering where and when the chapter is happening。 my one quibble was i wanted more of victor。 several side characters, and a couple of new faces, served as this book's protagonists, with victor almost pushed to the sidelines。 i missed him and wanted more of his perspective :( v e schwab is, as usual, a genius。 just like its predecessor, this book was remarkably well-paced given the non-chronological style; it can maintain solid flow throughout without leaving the reader wondering where and when the chapter is happening。 my one quibble was i wanted more of victor。 several side characters, and a couple of new faces, served as this book's protagonists, with victor almost pushed to the sidelines。 i missed him and wanted more of his perspective :( 。。。more
